Cette thèse vise à mettre en lumière les pratiques artistiques des années soixante élargies, en Europe et aux Etats-Unis, qui ont conduit les artistes à interroger l’économie au sein de leur création. Au milieu du XXe siècle, les économistes et les sociologues commençaient à appliquer leurs méthodes au domaine artistique, envisageant l’art comme une « marchandise » voire comme un « investissement » et l’artiste comme une « profession ».
