We studied intraspecific gestural laterality of captive chimpanzees and gorillas in real-life social-ecological relevant contexts. We evidenced that chimpanzees (respectively gorillas) exhibited a right-hand bias at the population level for the majority of the most frequent gestures of their specific natural communication repertoire.
