La mise à profit des compétences des sages-femmes de Protection Maternelle et Infantile en Basse-Normandie

The purpose of this report was to estimate patients orientation towards the midwives in maternal and child health care services by the healthcare professionals of the perinatal field in Basse-Normandie (France). The study included 249 professionals working on the follow-up of pregnant women or mothers of a newborn. According to the results, the professionals direct, in a rather satisfactory way, the women to the midwife in Maternal and child health care services. However, they direct them more for social reasons than medical or psychological ones. This is due to incomplete or erroneous knowledge of the midwifes skills in mother and child welfare services, probably in connection with a drift of the prevention missions of the Maternal and child health care services. It is thus important that the factors of vulnerability should be well-spotted by the professionals to avoid this sliding and what it contains of stigmatizing for the midwife in maternal and child health care services, so as to offer to families an adapted support.Le but de ce mémoire était d'évaluer l'orientation des patientes vers les sages-femmes de PMI par les professionnels de santé du champ périnatal. L'étude ciblait 249 professionnels exerçant le suivi de femmes enceintes ou récemment accouchées. D'après les résultats, les professionnels orientent de façon plutôt satisfaisante les femmes vers la sage-femme de PMI. Cependant, ils orientent davantage pour des raisons sociales que médicales ou psychologiques. Ceci en raison de connaissances incomplètes ou erronées sur les compétences de la sage-femme de PMI, probablement en lien avec une dérive des missions de prévention de la PMI. Il est donc important que les facteurs de vulnérabilité soient bien repérés par les professionnels afin d'éviter ce glissement et ce qu'il comporte de stigmatisant pour la sage-femme de PMI, de façon à offrir aux familles un soutien adapté
