La violence terroriste se définit principalement par le projet politique qui la motive. Or, depuis plusieurs décennies, Hollywood propose des personnages terroristes sans motivations politique avérées. Notre étude montre que la dépolitisation apparente de ces antagonistes particuliers fait entrer la représentation du terroriste dans une politique identitaire complexe dans laquelle le corps du personnage devient le véhicule principal du discours politique et que ce dernier porte principalement sur la renégociation des identités culturelles américaines, notamment sur les questions de races, de genres et de sexualités.
