Agricultures et villes : des articulations renouvelées

International audienceKey discipline in the Vidalian geography in the times of farm modernization, rural geography has had to renew its scientific framework in the light of the urbanization of the countryside. The concept of territorial resource opens the way to thinking of possible linkages between cities, countryside and agriculture. The challenge has become one of scrutinizing the signs of what is a second “rural renaissance.” The trends involve substitution by farmers and agriculture, as territory-based actors, of a proactive dynamics of construction of town-country relations in place of various forms of acculturation. These developments are brought out in the five papers of this issue "Town and agriculture". The first paper analyses the linkages between the process of urbanization of the countryside and the agriculture from the point of view of the farmer in his farm. The next two focus on periurban agriculture in terms of publicization of the farmland around Montpellier and of innovation around Stockholm. The last two show the complexity of multi-stakeholder initiatives in the building of short food supply chains, in a cases of dedicated supermarkets in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and of the catering industry in the SartheDiscipline-clef dans la géographie vidalienne au temps de l’agricolisation des campagnes, la géographie rurale a dû renouveler ses cadres d’analyse avec l’urbanisation des campagnes. Le concept de ressource territoriale autour duquel elle s’organise aujourd’hui permet notamment de penser de nouvelles articulations villes-campagne-agriculture. L’enjeu est désormais de scruter les manifestations d’une deuxième renaissance rurale où les agriculteurs et l’agriculture, en tant qu’acteurs des territoires, substituent à des formes d’acculturation une dynamique proactive de construction des relations ville-campagne ainsi que le montrent les cinq articles réunis dans ce dossier « Agricultures et villes ». Le premier analyse les relations entre le processus d’urbanisation des campagnes et l’agriculture du point de vue d’un agriculteur de l’Ouest dans son exploitation. Les deux suivants analysent les agricultures périurbaines en termes de publicisation de l’espace agricole à Montpellier et d’innovation à Stockholm. Les deux derniers pointent la complexité des jeux d’acteurs dans la construction de circuits courts, dans les cas de supermarchés spécialisés dans le Nord-Pas-de-Calais et de la restauration collective de la Sarthe
