Ce travail a pour objet l'étude de la fonction de la protéine LGI1. Des mutations dans le gène LGI1 (leucine-rich, glioma-inactivated 1) sont responsables de l'épilepsie autosomique dominante avec crises à symptomatologie auditive (ADEAF), un syndrome épileptique familial qui est caractérisé par des symptômes auditifs et qui survient à l'adolescence ou chez le jeune adulte. Par ailleurs, des anticorps dirigés contre la protéine LGI1 ont été trouvés dans le liquide cérébro-spinal de patients présentant une encéphalite limbique autoimmune avec crises d'épilepsie, qui apparaît de façon aiguë chez l'adulte.
