Le but de cette thèse est de contribuer à la compréhension de la dynamique des rivières carpatiques par une approche hydrogéomorphologique, qui se base essentiellement sur l’analyse des documents cartographiques, sur des observations de terrain et sur des séries de débits liquides. La thèse prend pour cadre de réflexion la rivière Prahova (Roumanie). En 1900, la Prahova formait : un secteur à chenal unique et à ébauches de tresses dans les Carpates, un secteur en tresses dans les Subcarpates et dans la Plaine de piémont de Ploiesti qui se transformait en un secteur divagant sur les derniers kilomètres de cette plaine et un secteur à méandres dans la Plaine de subsidence de Gherghita-Sarata.
