International audienceThe port community fulfils two functions in freight flow conversions: converting high-volume maritime traffic that is random in nature into fragmented yet regulated flows in order to meet the requirements of the industry or large-scale distribution. The paper therefore analyses the possibilities of integration in a singular location: the Seine Axis. This area combines a maritime interface structured around the ports of the River Seine estuary and a metropolitan interface which supplies a market of more than 11 million inhabitants in the Ile-de-France region.
