Des techniques d’exploration de la fonction respiratoire nécessitant une coopération minimale, réalisables en ventilation spontanée, sans anesthésie, sont nécessaires chez les jeunes enfants asthmatiques. De telles méthodes sont la mesure de l’impédance respiratoire par la technique des oscillations forcées, la mesure de la résistance spécifique des voies aériennes par pléthysmographie ou la capnographie qui mesure la concentration de CO2 dans le gaz expiré.
