This thesis underlines the social representations of women on the profession of midwife. With this aim in mind, a quantitative analysis was realized. It was based on a survey, which was mainly distributed by General Practitioners in Lower Normandy. It tested women s knowledge on the profession of midwife It was demonstrated that the core of the profession, which is the care for the mother and her child around the delivery, remains a constant part of the social representations of women on the profession. However, women seem to think that there is an increasing care for pathology during and apart from the pregnancy, and a certain renunciation of physiological support of the mother and her child.Dans ce travail sont étudiées les représentation...
