Afin de clarifier et caractériser les mécanismes fondamentaux de formation des réseaux étendus cellulaires et dendritiques en régime diffusif, des expériences de solidification dirigée permettant l’observation in situ en temps réel de l’interface solide-liquide d’un alliage transparent ont été réalisées dans l’instrument « DECLIC-DSI» à bord de la Station Spatiale Internationale. Des procédures spécifiques d'analyse d'images ont été développées pour caractériser les réseaux et extraire des données de référence à comparer aux modèles théoriques ou numériques.
