Depuis une cinquantaine d’années, la dynamique d’orientation est au centre des préoccupations sociale, politique et éducative. De nombreux chercheurs ont conceptualisé les déterminants à l’œuvre dans l’élaboration des choix d’orientation : Bourdieu et Passeron (1964) adoptent un point de vue sociologique avec leur modèle de reproduction sociale, quand d’autres développent l’angle psychologique du processus d’orientation, et notamment la notion de projet (Dubet, 1973 ; Boutinet, 1990,1992, 1993 ; Dumora, 1990 ; Guichard, 2006).
