Cette thèse examine les transformations du regard en poésie à travers les imaginaires photographiques de la période moderniste. Le rôle de la photographie est étudié chez Apollinaire, Cendrars, Reverdy, Fargue, Mac Orlan, Albert-Birot, Morand, Larbaud, Soupault, Levet, Segalen ou Roussel et dans les revues littéraires de la période 1905-1930. Les rapports des poètes aux images photographiques sont d’abord concrets : pratiques d’amateurs, pratiques ludiques, usages iconographiques, activités de collections, etc. La photographie est aussi présente dans les textes poétiques, comme un autre du langage tour à tour magique, exotique, technique ou documentaire.
