The split anterior tibial tendon transfer is a procedure commonly used to correct equinovarus deformity of the foot, primarily in children with spastic cerebral palsy. The procedure has been reported to yield satisfactory results; it can be combined with other soft tissue lengthening. Typically, the transferred tendon can be fixed by either button, staple, metal screw, or anchored into two bony tunnels. Occasionally, failure to maintain transferred tendon fixation may result from conventional surgical methods and therefore lead to undesirable results.
