BACKGROUND. Intrahepatic metastasis via portal vein spread is an important feature and a crucial unfavorable prognostic factor of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). To identify the molecular factors for tumor progression, the authors used differential display (DD) to analyze aberrant gene expression in HCC.
