BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to determine whether differences in cytokine concentrations, chemical composition , and murine embryogenesis in hydrosalpinx fluid could be observed between women with hydrosalpinx who achieved and did not achieve pregnancy. METHODS: Hydrosalpinx fluids were collected from 39 infertile women participating in an IVF- embryo transfer programme at a university teaching hospital. The fluids were analysed for concentrations of cytokine concentration (epidermal growth factor, interferon-gamma, leukaemia inhibitory factor, and tumour necrosis factor- alpha) and chemical composition.
