STUDENTS SPEAK OUT (FOR THE AWARENESS OF ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE)

This Honors Thesis acts as a collaboration of projects. A separate research project was conducted by me with support from Dr. Jackie Maximillian, entitled Carbon Monoxide Concentration and Income in Pima County Households. This research project was devised and conducted over the course of the past two semesters, aiming to find out if a correlation exists between income and indoor air quality. This research was conducted as a part of ENVS497A, a Capstone course for Environmental Science Majors. More information regarding the research project will be referenced in this Thesis, as the results from the research project were used to develop and facilitate discussion during the event called Students Speak Out!(for the Awareness of Environmental Justice). The community event makes up the bulk of my Honors Thesis, while being supported by the findings of the research project. Students Speak Out! (for the Awareness of Environmental Justice) was an event that took place on March 31st, 2018. The event took place in conjunction with The ASUA group Students for Sustainability, namely with the Environmental Arts Committee. The event invited students and leaders in the community to express their thoughts about environmental or climate justice in a creative manner. 3 Students and a Tucson community member participated in the event, utilizing poetry and a speech to convey their views on environmental problems (and justice).
