The purpose of this study was to describe maternal concerns and readiness to learn during postpartum hospitalization. Thirty primigravidae women completed written questionnaires to identify concerns and selfreported readiness to learn at 4-8 and 28-32 hours after delivery. The most frequently identified areas of moderate or much concern related to the categories of self and baby at both assessment times. No statistically significant change was noted between time 1 and time 2 in regard to the focus of maternal concern.
