Despite considerable progress in conventional cancer therapies, major challenges persist in the treatment of patients with advanced stage malignancies. Cancer immunotherapy (harnessing the immune system against tumors) has demonstrated limited success to date, partially due to the immunosuppressive environment generated by tumors.
