As an important natural resource, urban watercourses have a close relationship with urban development, such as significant connectivity, ecological values and recreational opportunities. Unfortunately, conservation and development of urban waterfronts have not received sufficient attention in many cities in China. Rapid urban development in China has led to decrease in urban watercourses, degradation of urban riparian areas and water pollution.
