Linear programming techniques were used to evaluate various levels of irrigation system development on the Colorado River Indian Reservation. The recommended level of irrigation development on the CRIR was defined as that level which maximized total annual net returns to agriculture. Maximization of net returns involved the implementation of both on—farm and off—farm improvements on existing irrigated lands. On—farm improvements included improved water management, land leveling, ditchlining, and field reorganization.
