Casting is defined as a manufacturing process using liquid material and mold to produce parts with a shape that is close to the final geometry of the product. This study aims to determine the effect of mold preheating on freezing speed. Testing in the form of gray iron liquid using a CE meter test kit on gray cast iron specimens was tested for chemical composition with a spectrometer then tested for hardness and micro-photographs taken from the middle and top of the specimen. The results of the study were graphs obtained from the CE meter, which showed the results of the casting material were cast iron.
