A Study on the Behavior of Group Piles by TBM Tunnel Excavation

In recent years, urban traffic has been increasing due to rapid urbanization. Traffic congestion is the biggest problem we have to solve so that big cities are planning to underground roads and tunnels. Tunnel construction in the urban area is inevitable for underground construction of roads to avoid traffic congestion. Tunnel construction in urban areas has many problems. The foundation of the superstructure is often adjacent to the tunneling direction and the stress distribution of the pile changes due to tunnel excavation. However, studies have been performed only on the side of a pile when a tunnel is excavated. In general, excavation of the lower part of the pile is more important than excavation of the side of the pile. It is reported that more stress change occurs. There is considerable experience of the assessment of tunneling in ‘greenfield’ ground and buildings on shallow foundations there is a scarcity of well-documented studies showing the influence of tunneling on piled foundations. However, most of the studies have been performed on single pile analyzes. In field site, it is necessary to study it because it is constructed as a group pile and to study the stress variation of the upper base plate of the group pile.
