The dissertation consists of four papers, of which each may be read separately. Nonetheless, the four papers are not independent of each other. The general aim of this dissertation is to contribute to a better understanding on how fiscal policy affects monetary policy and what is required in terms of fiscal policy in order to guarantee a continuous success of the European Monetary Union (EMU).
