Minimalinvasive Eingriffe über natürliche Körperöffnungen - die „Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery“, kurz NOTES genannt - sind ein neues Trendthema in der Chirurgie. Grundsätzlich kann man über verschiedene Körperöffnungen wie Mund, Anus, oder Harnröhre via Harnblase, Magen, Darm oder Vagina in den Bauchraum gelangen. NOTES wird als weniger invasiv angesehen, als etablierte laparoskopische Verfahren. Allerdings besteht die Notwendigkeit, die vermuteten Vorteile von NOTES, wie die geringere Schmerzintensität und die schnellere Rekonvaleszenz der Patienten in der postoperativen Phase nachzuweisen.
