This dissertation aims to shed light on the relationship between corporate income taxation and firm behavior. The methodology applied throughout the dissertation combines microsimulation with microeconometric techniques. In Chapter 2, I briefly present a microsimulation model for the corporate sector, which I developed on the basis of corporate income tax statistics. Moreover, I introduce the main data sets used in the course of the present thesis, i.e., the corporate income tax statistics and the Hoppenstedt balance sheet data set. Chapter 3 focuses on the elasticity of the corporate income tax base with respect to the effective tax rate.
