In dieser Arbeit wurde der Einfluss zweier Haltungssysteme auf physiologische Größen des Wildmeerschweinchens ebenso wie die fetale Entwicklung und saisonale Effekte auf die Reproduktion dieser Tierart untersucht. Es konnte ein signifikanter Einfluss des Haltungssystems mit einem Körpermasseverlust und höheren Basalcortisolwerten in ausschließlicher Innenhaltung im Vergleich zu einer Außenhaltung festgestellt werden. Des Weiteren wurde durch wiederholte Ultraschalluntersuchungen während der Trächtigkeit die fetale Entwicklung beim Wildmeerschweinchen charakterisiert.
