A field theory is said to be 'integrable' if it possesses an infinite set of conservation laws. The latter tremendously restrict the dynamics. For instance, there is no particle production and the individual particle momenta are conserved in a scattering process. Most importantly, the scattering matrix factorizes in two-particle amplitudes. This enables one to construct scattering matrices in an exact and complete manner. Since the S-matrix contains all relevant information about the dynamics this allows for a non-perturbative treatment of these models. The insight gained is expected to be of great value when investigating higher-dimensional quantum field theories. The most prominent class of integrable quantum field theories in 1+1 dimensions is affine Toda field theory. Distinguished by a rich underlying Lie algebraic structure these models have in recent years attracted much attention not only as test laboratories for non-perturbative methods in quantum field theory but also in the context of off-critical models. After a short introduction the mathematical preliminaries such as root systems, Coxeter geometry, dual algebras, q-deformed Coxeter elements and q-deformed Cartan matrices are introduced. Using this mathematical framework the bootstrap analysis of the affine Toda S-matrices with real coupling is performed and several universal Lie algebraic formulae proved. The Lie algebraic methods are then extended to define a new class of colour valued S-matrices and also here universal expressions are derived. The second part of the thesis presents a detailed analysis of the high-energy regime of the integrable models discussed in the first part. By means of the thermodyna mic Bethe ansatz the central charges of the ultraviolet conformal field theories are calculated and in case of affine Toda theories also the first order term in the scaling function is analytically obtained. For the colour valued S-matrices the connection to WZNW coset models is discussed. A particular subclass of them, the so-called Homogeneous Sine-Gordon models, is investigated in some detail and it is found that the presence of unstable particles in these theories gives rise to a staircase pattern in the corresponding scaling function.Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit integrablen Quantenfeldtheo rien in einer Raum- und einer Zeitdimension. Als integrabel bezeichnet man eine Feldtheorie, wenn sie einen unendlichen Satz an Erhaltungsgrößen , sogenannte Ladungen, besitzt. Diese schränken die Dynamik der Theorie ein, so sind zum Beispiel nur Streuprozesse erlaubt, in denen die Teilchenzahl und die individuellen Teilchenimpulse erhalten sind. Darüber hinaus läßt sich jeder Vielteilchen-Streuprozeß in Zweiteilchenprozess e aufspalten, was insbesondere impliziert, daß die Streumatrix in Zweiteilch enmatrizen faktorisiert. Diese Beobachtung hat wichtige Konsequenzen für die mathematische Behandlung solcher Quantenfeldtheorien. So lassen sich im Gegensatz zu höherdimensionalen Theorien exakte und vor allem explizite Ausdrücke für die physikalischen Größen erhalten. Insbesondere können Streumatrizen vollständig konstruiert werden. Letztere enthalten sämtliche relevanten Informationen über die Dynamik der Quantenfeldtheorie. Die aus der Behandlung der niederdimensionalen integrablen Feldtheorien gewonnenen Erfahrungen sollen bei der Erforschung höherdimensionaler Theorien helfen. Die bekannteste Klasse von integrable Quantenfeldtheorien sind die affinen Toda-Feldtheorien. Sie zeichnen sich durch eine komplexe Lie algebraische Struktur aus und standen in den vergangenen Jahren im Mittelpunkt des Interesses nicht nur in ihrer Rolle als Spielzeugmodelle für nicht-störungstheoretische Methoden in der Quantenfeldtheorie, sondern auch wegen ihrer Anwendung bei Systemen, die Phasenübergänge zweiter Ordnung aufweisen. Nach einer kurzen Einführung in die Thematik werden die mathematischen Grundlagen dargestellt, wie zum Beispiel Wurzelsysteme, Coxeter-Geometrie, duale Algebren, q-deformierte Coxeter-Elemente und q-deformie rte Cartan- Matrizen. Letztere bilden den zugrundeliegenden mathematischen Rahmen für die anschließende Untersuchung des 'bootstrap' der affinen Toda-Streumatrizen mit reeller Kopplung und dem Beweis mehrerer universeller Formeln. Die dabei verwendeten Lie-algebraischen Methoden werden dann erweitert, um eine neue Klasse von Streumatrizen zu definieren, die sogenannten 'colour valued S-matrices'. Auch in diesem Zusammenhang sind allgemeine Ausdrücke hergeleitet. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit befasst sich mit einer detaillierten Analyse des Hochenergiebereiches der integrablen Modelle aus dem ersten Teil. Unter Verwendung des thermodynamischen Bethe-Ansatzes sind die zentralen Ladungen der konformen Feldtheorien im ultraviolet-Limes berechent. Im Fall der affinen Toda-Feldtheorien ist darüber hinaus auch der erste Störungsterm in der Skalenfunktion analytisch hergeleitet. Für die Klasse der 'colour-valued S-matrices' ist die Verbindung zu Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten (WZNW)-Modellen diskutiert. Eine spezielle Unterklasse von ihnen, die sogenannten 'Homogeneous Sine-Gordon'- Feldtheorien, sind im Detail untersucht mit dem Resultat, daß die im Massenspektrum auftretenden instabilen Teilchen ein Stufenverhalten in der zugehörigen Skalenfunktion bewirken
