Measures to improve biodiversity within the Demostration Dehesa Network. Habitats diversification. Landscape and biodiversity conservation.

The dehesa is rich in opportunities to establish a wide range of species of flora and fauna. It covers a whole mosaic of different environments including Mediterranean woodland and areas of individual trees surrounded by grazing land as well as shrub land, arable land, small channels, streams and pools of water, all of which support the coexistence of different species of plants and offer shelter and food to a wide range of wildlife. As such, these kinds of landscapes are regarded as Priority Habitats and form part of an ecosystem which is home to endangered or emblematic species such as the Iberian Lynx, the Spanish Imperial Eagle, the Black Vulture and the Crane.  Keywords: Dehesa, biodiversity, landscape, Priority HabitatsTítulo: Actuaciones para el fomento de la biodiversidad en la Red de Dehesas Demostrativas. La dehesa alberga un mosaico de distintos ambientes que ofrecen oportunidades únicas para el establecimiento de un amplio número de especies de fauna y flora, por ello están catalogadas como Hábitats de Interés Prioritario. Además contienen elementos constructivos tradicionales que tienen un incalculable valor como parte del patrimonio cultural y paisajístico andaluz. Mejoras en la gestión de sus aprovechamientos pueden ayudar a que este agroecosistema y su paisaje no pierden su gran potencial como espacio de biodiversidad. Restauración de riberas, implantación de flora apícola o aromática, creación de refugios para la fauna silvestre o restauración de muros de piedras, con algunas de las actuaciones propuestas por el proyecto Life bioDehesa.
