The aim of the present work is to show the importance of playing to child‟s development, in the physical, intellectual, affective and social aspects. One way to learn rules, limits and socialize (HUIZINGA, 2000). The author emphasizes that the child‟s development happens with the stimuli they receive from the environment in which they live, and the toys and the jokes are allies in this phase (VIGOTSKY, 2001). The author also shows that the school curriculum must value the playing, because it is through the jokes that the children learn, develop their abilities, and feel happy (MOYLE, 2006).
