Memories of school physical education practices in the course of teaching at the Assis Brasil Education Institute (Pelotas/RS, 1970s)

This dissertation seeks to investigate the memories of students and teachers about the school practices of Physical Education at Instituto de Educação Assis Brasil (Pelotas / RS) in the 1970s, the height of political repression promoted by the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship. For this, we use the dialogue with the historiography of the History of Education and some of its adjacent themes, such as History of institutions, normalists, political and educational specificities of the period, Physical Education teaching, Oral History methodology and theoretical reflections on memory. With regard to the sources for the research, we use narratives of students and teachers, written documents (class diaries and school regiment) and photographs belonging to the institution. The analysis of school bookkeeping and narratives show that the practices proposed and developed in the discipline of Physical Education gained evidence in the 1970s, especially because they focused on sportivization, civility and discipline, elements so important to the educational and political understandings of the time. The teacher training, in its curricular and didactic character, was permeated by Physical Education classes in which the practices - sometimes seen as disciplinary, sometimes as authoritarian ones - gained traces of sportive and military.Sem bolsaEsta dissertação tem como objetivo investigar as memórias de discentes e docentes sobre as práticas escolares da disciplina de Educação Física desenvolvidas no Instituto de Educação Assis Brasil (Pelotas/RS) na década de 1970, auge da repressão política promovida pela Ditadura civil-militar brasileira. Para tanto, valemo-nos do diálogo com a historiografia da História da Educação e de alguns de seus temas adjacentes, como História das instituições, das normalistas, das especificidades políticas e educacionais do período, do ensino de Educação Física, da metodologia da História Oral e das reflexões teóricas sobre memória. Com relação às fontes para a pesquisa, utilizamos narrativas de estudantes e de professoras, documentos escritos (diários de classe e regimento escolar) e fotografias pertencentes à instituição. A análise da escrituração escolar e das narrativas apontam que as práticas propostas e desenvolvidas na disciplina de Educação Física ganharam evidência nos anos 1970, especialmente porque focalizavam a esportivização, o civismo e a disciplina, elementos tão caros aos entendimentos educacionais e políticos da época. Assim, a formação de professoras, em seu caráter curricular e didático, esteve perpassada por aulas de Educação Física nas quais as práticas – ora encaradas como disciplinares, ora como autoritárias – ganhavam contornos de cunho esportivista e militarista
