Yeni idiyopatik epilepsi tanısı alan hastalarda tedavi öncesi ve idiyopatik epilepsi nedeni ile valproik asit tedavisi alan hastalarda eritrositlerde lipid peroksidasyonu ve antioksidan enzim düzeylerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmaya 24 yeni idiyopatik epilepsi, 24 idiyopatik epilepsi nedeni ile valproik asit kullanan ve 21'ide sağlıklı kontrol grubu olmak üzere toplam 69 olgu alındı. Olguların eritrositlerinde lipid peroksidasyonun bir göstergesi olan malondialdehit ve antioksidan enzimlerden superoksit dismutaz ve glutatyon peroksidaz düzeyleri ölçüldü.
