BACKGROUND: Apolipoprotein E (APOE) genotypes are associated with different plasma lipid levels. People with the APO epsilon 2 genotype can develop a disorder called dysbetalipoproteinemia (DBL). A possible predisposing factor for DBL is adiposity.
