Weibull olasılık yoğunluk fonksiyonu, rüzgar enerjisi potansiyelini belirlemede en çok kullanılan istatistiksel dağılımlardan biridir. Ortalama rüzgar hızı, ortalama rüzgar gücü yoğunluğu ve dolayısıyla rüzgar enerjisi tahmini genellikle iki parametreli Weibull olasılık yoğunluk fonksiyonuna dayalı olarak yapılmaktadır.
