Children in their meeting with information and media; A case study of pedagogical methods, at the senior level, concerning critical reflections and a general perspective regarding information and media.

The purpose of this thesis is to draw a picture of pedagogical work at the senior level with a critical perspective of information and media. As a method for gathering material for the analysis, a case study was made with qualitative interviews together with documents that describe the case. Relevant literature for the subject has been used as an introduction and as a theoretical basis. The literature concerns subjects such as a childrens relation to media, the schools intructions, the role of the school library and some theories regarding learning. The conclusion is that the respondents focus on conversations and reflection regarding the sources of information and its use, and that the childrens adaption of the material is an important factor in teaching. There are clear intentions in bringing in the everydaylife of the children and their interests into the education. The overarching working method of the subjects, which are applied on a senior level, aim at creating a general picture in the childrens learning. The assignments and the pedagogical methods are ambitious and well thought out. The school librarian has an ambiguous pedagogical role and the teachers education in information search does not always have a starting point in the school library which can be seen as a shortage since existing resources are not used to a full extent.Uppsatsnivå:
