Managerial Competencies of Women

The bachelor thesis focuses on challenges that women face in leadership positions. The work outlines a conceptual framework by defining management, management styles as well as essential managerial skills. It also explains key concepts such as differences in the way women and men behave, the issue of discrimination and entry barriers. Furthermore delivers qualitative analysis of interviews conducted with a sample of selected women. The survey method used is a semi-structured interview in which views, ideas and experience of female managers are expressed. The interviews deal with challenging situations related to their working environment, with the differences between female and male colleagues and with the future role of women in the workplace. The aim of the thesis is propose changes in the approach of companies to female managers and at the same time to find measures to support women applying for management positions
