This thesis studies from the theoretical and empirical points of view the allocation of time by part of rational individuals motivated by technological changes in the economy. Drawing upon the labor market viewpoint of Lucas and Rapping (1969), the first two chapters are respectively concerned with the life-cycle allocation of labor effort by part of prime-age males and females, and they seek to ask for the attention over a topic of research that seemed closed from the mid 1980's: the importance of alterations in the price of goods to the intertemporal allocation of market work.
