An electricity generation portfolio in the Nordic power system is changing. The penetration of renewable energy sources to the Nordic power system is increasing rapidly and there have been decommissions of unprofitable thermal power plants. Renewable energy is highly weather dependent and renewable electricity generation methods are utilising power electronic technologies. Thus, it can be concluded that characteristics of the Nordic power system are changing and the changes in the power system will happen faster in the future. System operators must do rapid decisions when balancing the supply and demand after a disturbance. These situations will be more complicated when the penetration of the renewable energy in the power system is greater....
