The transient and steady-state interference analysis of a production system with two non-identical, semi-automatic and reliable machines is dealt with. A stochastic model is developed to describe the system and analytical expressions for the percentage interference, utilization and mean output mte of each machine, with arbitrary distributions of concurrent times and exponential distributions of processing times of both machines, have been obtained by using the state-space method and the regeneration point technique. A particular case is investigated and numerical results are presented to illustrate the features of this machine interference problem
