Nearly 50% of drugs are chiral wherein pharmacological activity resides with the eutomer (pharmacologically active enantiomer) whereas the distomer (inactive/less potent/equally potent/different pharmacological activity/toxic enantiomer) metabolizes by a different pathway and creates unnecessary burden on the body.
