In this paper, a simple general expression for the magnitude response of filters is proposed, through which the Butterworth and Chebyshev, as well as the different transitional falters found in the literature, can be derived as particular cases. The proposed magnitude response function, involving Chebyshev polynomials can be used as a basis for the generation of an infinite families of new transitional filters
