Abstract: Accelerated bridge construction (ABC) techniques have become increasingly commonplace alternatives to conventional construction techniques over the recent years. This thesis investigates the structural behavior of one common technique of ABC, using ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) closure joints between precast deck slabs. Glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars are used as alternative reinforcement in bridge-deck slabs to avoid steel corrosion problems, especially in harsh weather conditions.
