The inorganic coating of Al2O3 was introduced on nanoparticles to weaken their tendency of agglomeration in electroless plating bath. The influence of the coating on interaction energy and interaction forces between the coated particles was evaluated in this study. The Al2O3-coated diamond particles were prepared by the heterogeneous nucleation process. The attractive interaction and repulsive interaction between the coated particles in electroless nickel (EN) solution were calculated by the classical DLVO theory. Sedimentation tests were conducted to verify the modelling. The calculation predictions are well in agreement with the experimental results.
