The analysis of the composition of soils proves useful for a variety of individuals, even outside of the academic community. Architects, farmers, and others may use the determined soil type to determine materials, layouts, and crops that will work best in certain areas based upon the manner in which the soil interacts with water and other nutrients. The way in which scientists determine the composition of soils is known as Particle Size Analysis (PSA).
