Interview of Sharyn Talbert by Olivia Wikle

Interview conducted at The Ohio State University Archives, Columbus, Ohio.Sharyn Talbert describes her multi-faceted career at The Ohio State University. She began in 1985 as a non-traditional student, completing a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, and Ph.D., all in English, by 1996. Throughout her time as a student over these years, Talbert worked first as a secretary in the History department, then as an administrative assistant and program coordinator in the College of Social Work. After receiving her Ph.D. in 1996, Talbert began teaching courses in the English department at OSU, while simultaneously continuing in her program coordinator position in the College of Social Work. In 2001, Talbert joined Ohio State’s English department as a full-time honors undergraduate advisor. She continued to teach at Ohio State until her retirement in 2011. Talbert talks of her experience as a staff member at Ohio State, and describes how this experience led to her dissertation topic. She also discusses her understanding of how being a female has affected her life, personally and professionally
