Despite the number of studies growing on queer and trans students, numerous studies (e.g. Abes,2011; Bonner, Marbley, and Howard-Hamilton, 2011; Dilley, 2002; Dilley, 2005; Messinger, 2009;Nicolazzo, 2015; Pattison, 2010; Renn, 2007, 2010; Rhoades, 1997; Stoddard, 2012) call for a further studying of queer and trans populations, thus highlighting the large gaps in the literature.
