Based on bovine serum albumin passivated gold nanoclusters (AuNCs@BSA) we firstly developed a fluorescent biosensor platform, combining cholesterol oxidase with assistance of surfactant, for selective detection of water insoluble analyte, cholesterol in aqueous condition.
