The purpose of this article is to provide brief and concise information on Colombia’s current situation regarding LNG or liquefied natural gas and to provide a theoretical description of the importance of importing this resource into the country. The first point provides a synthesis on the protection, nationalization of gas reserves and environmental assets. In the second point is to expose the opportunities of Energy Security for the Country. The third point is known about LNG Market in Latin America and business opportunities for Colombia. And fourth and last point provides a descriptive analysis of the growth of the LNG market in Latin America and the rest of the world.El presente artículo tiene como propósito informar de forma breve y concisa la situación actual de Colombia en materia del GNL o gas natural licuado, y realizar una descripción teórica sobre la importancia de importar este recurso al país. En el primer punto se ofrece una síntesis sobre la protección, nacionalización de las reservas de gas y de los bienes ambientales. En el segundo punto consiste en exponer las oportunidades de Seguridad Energética para el País. El tercer punto se conoce sobre Mercado del GNL en Latinoamérica y las oportunidades de negocio para Colombia. Y cuarto y último punto se ofrece un análisis descriptivo del crecimiento del mercado de GNL en Latinoamérica y el resto del mundo
