The 21st Century is characterized by a knowledge-based economy. Knowledge is now days the main productivity and organizational competitiveness factor for companies. Business must know the amount of organizational knowledge they hold and analyze relationships amongst different types of knowledge that flows through the heart of the company. Actually the ability of companies to generate value is no longer associate to an efficient management of material assets; creation and support of competitive advantages, that determine the capacity of creating value for entrepreneurs, are now related to the efficiency pertaining to the management of intangible assets. Intellectual capital has become the main source of economic value and competitive capacity in business and also the intangible asset that most frequently goes unseen. It is important to have the right tools that allow us to identify what this intangibles are, we need to audit them, measure their value, renovate, increase and register all variations that these experiment over time. Appropriate management of these intellectual assets is a key factor of successful business for the future.El siglo XXI está caracterizado por una economía basada en el conocimiento, convirtiéndose éste en el principal factor de productividad y competitividad organizacional. Las empresas deben conocer cuál es su stock de conocimiento organizativo, y analizar los flujos entre los diferentes tipos de conocimiento que fluyen en el seno de la compañía. En el nuevo escenario, la capacidad de generación de valor de las organizaciones no se entiende ya relacionada con la eficiencia en la gestión de los activos materiales; la generación y el sostenimiento de ventajas competitivas que determinan la capacidad de creación de valor para los empresarios, están vinculados a la eficiencia con la que se gestionan los denominados activos intangibles. El capital intelectual es la principal fuente de valor económico y capacidad competitiva de las empresas, y es el activo intangible que pasa desapercibido con mayor frecuencia. Es importante disponer de herramientas adecuadas que permitan identificar cuáles son esos intangibles, auditarlos, medir su valor, renovar, incrementar y registrar las variaciones que éste experimenta en el tiempo; gestionar estos activos intelectuales se configura como un factor determinante del éxito empresarial para el futuro
