Soluções sólidas de céria com terras raras são conhecidas pelo seu potencial em aplicações como sensores de oxigênio e células à combustível com eletrólito óxido sólido (SOFC). A substituição do Ce4+ por íons trivalentes das terras raras, promove a introdução de vacâncias aniônicas para manter o equilíbrio de cargas. Neste trabalho, soluções sólidas de céria - u% mol de ítria foram preparadas, com u variando entre 0 e 12, por reações em estado sólido. As soluções sólidas obtidas apresentam uma estrutura cubica tipo fluorita nas quais o parâmetro de rede está diretamente relacionado com a composição química de acordo com a lei de Vegard.
